Iyer was born and raised in Chennai and was introduced to poker in early college. He then moved to Australia to pursue higher studies and started playing poker regularly at Crown Casino. He even began playing online poker on Poker Stars. He goes by usernames such as ‘abhi58’, ‘check shove’, ‘hightr0ller’, and ‘Schumi91’ across several online poker platforms.

In 2014, Iyer started playing and cashing low-stakes poker events in Melbourne, Australia. He gradually improved, and by 2018, he was consistently playing and winning money in bigger tournaments. He finished fourth in the HK$8,000 Macau Millions No-Limit Hold'em event and won $12,143, his first five-figure win.

In 2019, he Played and cashed in five World Series of Poker events. He entered the final event, the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Close,r and won his first WSOP bracelet, taking $565,346 home.
