Biography
Allen Cunningham was born on March 28, 1977, in Riverside, California, to Dean and Joanne Cunningham.
From an early age, Allen Cunningham has acquired the proficiency to play poker by playing around the kitchen table. From a young age, he was aware of his interest and poker skills and was itching for the right moment to step into a casino and showcase his poker skills.
Allen went to high school and also pursued civil engineering at UCLA. However, he never lost his interest in card games and managed to play poker at a tribal local casino, even while working as a pizza delivery boy. Interestingly, Allen Cunningham won a good amount of money in low-limit cash games and freeroll tournaments. Though he built his bankroll, he always craved to play tournaments and win titles.
His luck showed favour, and during his second year of college, Allen Cunningham started winning tournaments and making cash.
At the age of 18, Allen Cunningham started playing in Indian casinos. Eventually, he dropped out of college only to play cards full-time. Though he managed to win some tables, because he was not 21, he could not play in real tournaments.
Finally, when Allen Cunningham turned 21, he wasted no time and participated in tournaments only to prove his skills and become a popular and highly admired professional poker player. The first few months, he considered it to be formative for him. Allen started playing poker in Indian casinos when he was 18 years old. In September 1998, he won his first National Championship of Poker tournament in Inglewood. His best live cash win came in the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, where he won $3,628,513, acquiring fourth place out of 8,773 players.
Allen has won five World Series of Poker (WSOP) Bracelets and is among the few players to win a bracelet in a row for three years. In December 2007, he won the main event of the first National Poker League Vegas Open Championship with a $15,000 buy-in, earning $325,000 in a head-up play.
In May 2008, Allen won $499,000 in the World Series of Poker Circuit event held in Las Vegas. The same year, he performed well in the WSOP Main Event, acquiring 117th place, competing with 6,844 participants and winning $41,816.
Allen Cunningham teamed up with Huck Seed to play in the Full Tilt Poker Doubles Poker Championship in November 2010, earning $500,000.
