Thomas Dwan Jr., commonly known as Durr in the poker world, is an American professional poker player. He plays primarily on Full Tilt Poker and is a high-stakes No-Limit Texas Holdem and pot-limit Omaha player. Dwan has appeared on the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons of Poker After Dark. He also appeared on the third, fourth, and fifth seasons of Full Tilt Poker's Million Dollar Cash Game. Later, he appeared in the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth seasons of GSN's High Stakes Poker.

Thomas Dwan Jr. was born in Edison, New Jersey, on July 30, 1986. Before playing poker, he worked for McDonald's. He attended Boston University but dropped out after the first year to pursue poker.

Online Poker
Dwan started with $50 in the Sit and Go tournament, later switched to multiplayer cash games and eventually heads-up to cash games. By 2007, he had made $312,800 on Full Tilt Poker and $5.41 million in 2008. In 2009, he lost $5 million to Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. He later recovered, and by the end of 2013, he had reached $3.3 million.
Million Dollar Challenge
In January 2009, Dwan issued a $1 million challenge to play anyone heads-up for 50,000 four-tabling at $200/$400 limits or higher No-Limit holdem or Pot-Limit Omaha. He said if any opponent is ahead after 50,000 hands, he will give $1,500,000 more; if he is ahead, he will get $500,000. He said, “I think all of them are better overall poker players than me -- by quite a bit; I happen to think in this one area, I might have a little edge -- and we'll see if I do.”
Patrik Antonius and Daniel Cates took the challenge, but neither match concluded. In October 2013, Daniel Cates was ahead by $1.2 million after roughly 20,000 hands. He claimed that Dwan had stopped playing and was not responding to his queries. Later, in 2017, he said that Dwan had paid him $800,000 in penalties.

Dwan made his first cash at 19. He played in the second season's Main Event of the European Poker Tour and finished 12th in the £3,000 no-limit Texas Holdem, winning £7,000. He won his next cash in the 2007 World Poker Finals $9,700 No Limit Holdem Event. He finished 4th and won $324,244.
In 2008, he played and won A$103,200 in the Aussie Millions A$3,000 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys event and finished 2nd. Later, he finished 62nd in the A$10,000 No Limit Holdem Main Event. In the 2008 WPT Borgata Winter Open, he finished 2nd and won $226,100.
He cashed twice in the WSOP held in the U.S. He reached the final table in the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event at the 2008 WSOP and finished 8th, winning $54,144. He participated in the 2008 NBC and defeated Phil Hellmuth in the third hand. He finished 9th in the 2008 Five-Star World Poker Classic and won $184,670.
In the 2010 WSOP, he finished second and won $381,885. In 2011, he cashed thrice in the WSOP, including fifth place in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship. In 2016, he skipped WSOP and played in Montenegro. However, he played in the Triton Super High Roller Series in Manila. In 2017, he made his first live cash since 2014 and finished 2nd in the Macau Billionaire's Poker Spring Challenge.

In the fourth season of Full Tilt Poker's Million Dollar Cash Game, he won over $1.1 million, setting a record for the largest pot won in a televised live game. He broke his record by winning $919,000 in the fifth season of High Stakes Poker. In May 2023, he won $3.1 million in the Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Game.
