Merson was born on 8th December 1987. She started playing poker with his neighbourhood friends. He attended the University of Maryland for two and half semesters, then dropped out to play poker. At first, he was unsuccessful; hence, he attended community college. He tried again and later became a successful short-hand cash game player.
He lived in Laurel, Maryland, until Black Friday, then shifted to Toronto. Before winning WSOP, he had to overcome his marijuana and cocaine addictions. He said, “When I was 17, I became addicted to drugs. I lost nearly 30 pounds in five months using cocaine during my freshman year of college.”
Poker Career
Merson made his first cash in the 2009 WSOP, where he finished 639th and won $21,365. In 2012, he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 Texas Hold'em World Championship. The game broke all the records as he won on the fourth day, which was very quick.
Before the WSOP main event, he played a small event, finished fifth place, and won $70,280. In the WSOP main event, he was nearly eliminated but survived. On October 30, he reached the final day of the 2012 Main Event and won the championship, defeating Jesse Sylvia in a final showdown.
