John Bonetti is an American professional poker player known for his aggressive game style. He started playing poker very late, and despite his late entry, he made a name for himself by winning three WSOP bracelets.
Background
John Bonetti was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 16, 1928. He served in the U.S. military, worked, and was a businessman before getting into poker. It was in his mid-50s that he started playing poker seriously. He continued playing poker into his later years. He was diagnosed with cancer, and after a long battle, he passed away on June 27, 2008.
John Bonetti Poker Career
John’s major break came in the 1990s when he started making deep runs in major tournaments, particularly in the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
He won three WSOP bracelets, the first one in 19902 when he played in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em, the second one in the 1993’s $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, and the last one in 1995 in $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha. He came close to winning the WSOP Main event but finished third in 1993 and 1996. Apart from WSOP, he played regularly in the high-stakes poker circuit.
