Biography
John L. Hennigan is an American professional poker player. He has won seven WSOP bracelets and a World Poker Tour Title. His nickname is Johnny World, as he is willing to bet anything. In 2018, he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.
Background
Hennigan was born on 10 August 1970. When he was young, he started playing pool and used to travel across the pool circuit. The gambling in the pool led him to poker, and in 1997, he recorded his first cash.
John Hennigan Poker Career
John Hennigan finished ninth in the 1999 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 no-limit holdem main event. In 2002, he made it to the final table of WSOP's $1,500 seven-card stud. Four days later, he won his first bracelet in the $2,000 H.O.R.S.E. and took $117,320 home.
In 2004, he played in the $5,000 limit hold'em, defeated James McManus, David Chiu and T. J. Cloutier in the final table and won his second bracelet. In 2005, he made it to two final tables of WSOP. This includes second place in the $5,000 2 to 7 draw lowball no limit.
In 2014, he won his third WSOP bracelet in the $50,000 Players Championship and won over $1.5 million. 2016, he won his fourth bracelet in the $10,000 2–7 Tribe Draw Lowball Limit Championship.
In the 2018 WSOP, he won his fifth bracelet in a $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event and took home $765,837. In the 2019 WSOP, he won his sixth bracelet; in 2024, he won his seventh bracelet in the $1,500 Dealers Choice.
Hennigan has made it to the two final tables of the World Poker Tour. He finished fourth in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic in 2002 and won $1.6 million in the 2007 Borgata Winter Open.
