Personal life
John Juanda was born on July 8, 1971 in Indonesia and moved to the United States in the year 1990 to pursue higher studies in the University of Oklahoma. In his education life, he was popular as a school track star. Before he started his poker career, he used to sell bibles. John Juanda completed his MBA from Seattle University.
Till 1996, he continued to play poker as his hobby. But once he made his way to the first major tournament he became an ardent poker player. John came to know about poker at a young age through his father.
John Juanda’s favourite poker game is Pot Limit & No Limit Hold'em. Besides playing poker his hobbies include reading, watching movies and exploring new places. He also has great interest in religion.
He loves to listen to his favourite John Lenon & Elton John. John Juanda is a great fan of Dalai Lama.
Among several legendary and noted poker players, he pays his reverence to Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Allen Cunningham and many others.

Johnson "John" Juanda started playing poker in 1996 and won 4 WSOP bracelets.
In his poker career, he was conferred as the Player of the Year by the renowned Cardplayer Magazine in the year 2001 and 2002 for achieving victory in a World Poker Open Championship title and four World Series of Poker titles.
His achievements are highly impressive. In 2004, John won the inaugural Professional Poker Tour event at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.
Not only he won titles but also cashed huge amount. He earned $500,000 in the year 2005 in the Monte Carlo Millions Consolation tournament in Monte Carlo, Monaco. In this tournament, he finished being the 6 th in the main event. And in the same year, he finished second at the popular "The FullTiltPoker.Net Invitational Live from Monte Carlo."
In the year 2006, John Juanda participated in the Crown Australian Poker Championship A$100,000 and defeated many proficient and skilled poker players that include Mike Sexton, Jeff Lisandro, Tony Bloom, Barry Greenstein, Tony G and the legendary player Phil Ivey and won the A$1,000,000.
At the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe £10,000 No Limit Holdem Main Event he won $1,580,096. After a few days, he participated at the European Poker Tour's London £1 Million Showdown, a non-title no limit holdem event and finished runner-up earning $598,770.
Throughout this poker career, he won 6 World Poker Tour (WPT) final tables but unfortunately he remained so far to claim a World Poker Title. In his World Poker Tour career, John finished 2nd in the Bellagio Season 1; 3rd in the WPT Invitational Season 2; 4th in the Mirage Season 3; 5th in the Aruba Season 3 & Niagara Falls Season 5 and 6th in the Bellagio Season 3. He also played at PartyPoker Cruise Season 2 but finished 7th.
Interestingly, he was won lot earnings from live tournament. And as of 2011, his winnings exceed $11,700,000 only from live tournaments. His cash at the World Series of Poker so far accounts $3,902,221 securing 8th position for all time WSOP cashes.
He won World Series of Poker bracelets in 2002 ($1,500 Triple Draw Lowball Ace to Five), 2003 ($2,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split and $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha $203,840), 2008 WSOPE (£10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event), and in the year 2011 ($10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship).
John Juanda is also a member of the popular "Team Full Tilt" at Full Tilt Poker.
He played several tournaments, but he only tasted success in the 1999 WSOP $1,500 Buy-In Limit Hold’em event by securing the 9th place.
He enhanced his poker skills and after winning the World Poker Open Championship in 2001 he hasn’t looked back.
