Alexander Bastiaan Martin "Lex" Veldhuis is a professional poker player and Twitch and YouTube streamer from Vlissingen, the Netherlands. He is an ambassador of Poker Stars.

Background

Lex Veldhuis was born on 29 December 1983 in Vlissingen, Netherlands. When he was five, his uncle gave him an NES; he became interested in computer games from that age. In his teenage, he founded StarCraft: Brood War and met friends online like Victor Goossens (founder of Teamliquid) and ElkY. After finishing middle school, he started studying criminology at the Erasmus University.

Lex Veldhuis Poker Career

During an international event, Veldhuis met Bertrand Grospellier, a French poker player, who inspired him to play online poker. In 2005, Grospellier deposited Veldhuis first $10 in PokerStars.

Later, Veldhuis played several tournaments, but he didn’t like the slow pace of the tournament as he was used to playing online games. He used to play at multiple tables at a time when playing online.

A few weeks later, he met Raemon Sluiter, a tennis player who taught him about sports mentality. Later, Veldhuis helped Sluiter's girlfriend, Fátima Moreira de Melo, with her poker career.

Veldhuis was knocked out of the main event on day 2 of the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP). He is a member of the Pokerstars pro team and streams high—and mid-stakes tournaments, with average monthly buy-ins of $40k.

In 2020, he finished 15th in the PokerStars SCOOP Main Event and won $62,620. The event was live-streamed, and more than 59k people watched it.
