Liz Lieu was born on August 2, 1974, in Vietnam. She moved to the U.S. very young and grew up in Colorado. As a teenager, she was introduced to poker and quickly became a skilled player. Before transitioning into tournaments, she played high-stakes cash games.
Poker Career
John Phan encouraged her to play in tournaments. She entered the $1500 no-limit hold 'em event, finishing fifth and winning over $168,000. She also finished 12th in the $5000 no-limit hold 'em event and won $3000.
Next, she played in the Bellagio's 2005 Festa Al Lago tournament. She finished fourth in the $2500 no-limit hold'em event and 16th in the two other tournaments. She took more than $80,000 home. She finished the top ten sports at the World Poker Finals, Five Diamond World Poker Classic, and the Gold Strike World Poker Open.
In 2006, she played in the L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino and won the $1,060 limit hold'em event. She won the same event in the following year.
In 2006, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and ESPN honoured her as the Final Table Grand Marshal. The following year, she signed an exclusive deal with Chilipoker and acted as an Ambassador for the poker room.
