Mike Mcdonald is a Canadian professional poker player known for being the youngest to win the EPT and Epic Poker League. He is known as Timex in the online poker world. He is also an entrepreneur who started the poker staking platform Poker Shares.
Background
Michael McDonald was born on September 11, 1989, and started playing poker in his teenage years. At 18, he won the European Poker Tour German Open and became the youngest player to win an EPT event.
Michael McDonald Poker Career
After winning EPT, McDonald travelled the world, picking the tournament cash flows in Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the Bahamas. In 2010, he finished third in the EPT Deauville Main event and won €295,000.
He won the Epic Poker League $20,000 Main Event the following year and took home $782,410. Later that year, he finished ninth in the Madrid EPT.
In 2014, he broke several records. First, he finished second in the 2014 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure Main Event. Next, he finished second in the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge, winning $1,343,436. Two days later, he finished third in the $250,000 challenge and won his career-high $1,701,808.
The following year, he finished second in the $250,000 challenge and took $1,235,228 home. In 2015, he won the EPT Malta €25,000 High Roller and took $561,622 home.
He was part of the Montreal Nationals team, which won the inaugural season of the now-defunct global poker league. He finished third in the 2013 WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts and won $434,560.
He made over $281,123 at the WSOP. His first World Series of Poker (WSOP) money came in 2011 when he finished sixth in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha—Six-Handed tournament and won $70,000. In 2012, he won five more money finishes. His best result was finishing sixth in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em / Ante Only event and winning $40,000.
