Philip Courtney Laak is an Irish-American poker player. He has won a World Poker Tour title and a World Series of Poker bracelet. He is also known for his poker commentary and has appeared on several television shows.

Phil Laak was born on September 8, 1972, in Dublin, Ireland, and raised on the East Coast of the United States. He was four when his family moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and worked odd jobs before getting into poker.
Phil Laak Poker Career
Laak learnt poker as a kid and won his first major tournament at WPT in 2004. He then played in the Battle of Champions and the 2005 Five Diamond World Poker Classic and finished sixth in both events.
In the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP), he finished second in the $2,500 pot-limit holdem event. He defeated Ram Vaswani in the inaugural William Hill Poker Grand Prix and took £150,000 home.
He won NBC's Poker After Dark and took $120,000 home. He also won $120,000 in the "Nicknames" episode. In 2007, he and Ali Eslami competed against the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence in Vancouver.
In 2008, he made a cameo in the Knight Rider television movie. He also wrote a column called Being Phil Laak in Bluff Magazine, a poker-based magazine. He has hosted a show called I Bet You on the (MOJO network).
In 2009, he was crowned Party Poker World Open V champion and won $250,000. 2006, he won his first WSOP bracelet in £2,500 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em.
