Prahlad S. Friedman was born on May 20, 1978. He majored in ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and got introduced to poker.

In 2002, Friedman made his first major cash. He finished second in the $3,000 Bellagio Five Diamond Poker Classic Main Event, taking $101,446 home. The following year, he won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in the $1,500 pot limit hold'em event and $109,400. Later, in the 2005 WSOP circuit event at Harrah's Rincon, he finished second and won $363,165.

In the 2006 WSOP Main event, Friedman finished 20th and took $494,797 home. He majored in ethnic studies at UC Berkeley. During this time, he used to play a lot. He played at the Oaks Club in the $15–$30 limit holdem table and later switched to the no-limit game at the Lucky Chances casino.

In another incident, Friedman waited too long to play; he waited until the last second to say ‘Call’. The official declared his hand ‘Dead’ and didn’t oppose the decision. He thought his opponent had stronger hands than him.
