Shaun Deeb is an American professional poker player. He has won six WSOP titles, eight Poker Stars WCOOP and five SCOOP titles. After recording 16 cashes and winning two bracelets, he was named World Series of Poker POY. He also won the POY title in SCOOP and WCOOP.
Background
Shaun was born in 1986 in Troy, New York. He started playing poker at 16 and used to run $20 buy-in tournaments for his peers. Later, he began playing online, which became his full-time job. He dropped out from Bently University to pursue his career as a professional poker player.
Soon enough, he started playing regularly, playing the biggest cash games and tournaments on Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars.
Poker Career
Deeb is a passionate poker player who often plays 15-20 games. He started visiting Las Vegas casinos after 2007 and retired at 24 but returned two months later.
In 2009, he won $85,000 at a European Poker Tour event; in 2011, he won $83,000 in a Poker Stars Caribbean tournament.
Before the 2011 U.S. poker ban, he played online on major poker sites. He won around $312,610 in one online tournament and several championships. He even paid his 91-year-old grandmother to join a big tournament. She lost the game; however, she became the oldest player.
In 2012, he entered a high-stakes tournament and deliberately lost to get a spot as an alternate. This is a strategy players use to win money without playing further.
He won his first WSOP bracelet in 2015 by defeating Paul Volpe, winning $318,857. As of 2021, his total earnings from live poker tournaments are over $9.2 million.
World Series of Poker

In 2016, he won $111,101 in the Seven-Card Stud tournament. 2018 was his year; he was leading in the Player of the Year rankings. He finished ‘in the money’ in 15 different events and earned a PLO High Roller event, winning $1,402,683 and a No-Limit Hold'em event, winning $814,179.
