Victoria Coren is a British professional poker player, writer, and TV presenter. She writes a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph and hosted the television quiz show Only Connect on the BBC.
Background
Victoria Elizabeth Coren Mitchell was born in Hammersmith, West London, on August 18, 1972. Her parents were humorists and journalists Alan Coren and Anne Kasriel. She attended an independent girls' School from age five to 18. In 2012, she announced her engagement to actor and comedian David Mitchell and married in November 2012. The couple has two kids.
Victoria Coren Poker Career
Victoria Coren was the first woman to win both a televised professional tournament and a televised celebrity tournament on the European Poker Tour. She also won two European Poker Tour Main Events.
She plays Texas Holdem at the Victoria Casino on London's Edgware Road. She has worked as a presenter and commentator. For ITV2, she presented William Hill Poker Grand Prix 2 Late Night Poker, The Poker Nations Cup, and the World Poker Tour. As a commentator, she worked on The Monte Carlo EPT, Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (Chan), and Ultimate Poker Challenge.
She has appeared in Late Night Poker episodes five times but never made it to the grand finale. However, in the Later Night Poker’s Spinoff, she defeated Willie Thorne and won the series. She was a guest dealer in the 2003 Holdem 100 tournament.
In 2006, she won the EPT main event and took £500,000 home. In 2011, she finished second in the International Federation of Poker's inaugural, winning $100,000. In 2014, she won the EPT Main event, taking €476,100 home.
She was a member of PokerStars Pro, but she removed her endorsement in 2014 after the platform announced the launch of an online casino.
